5-2-17 SFPS Announces DeSanctis as Aspen Principal School

Santa Fe, NM –On May 2, 2017 at the Board of Education Meeting, the Superintendent will announce Gary DeSanctis as the principal of Aspen Community Magnet School. Mr. DeSanctis has served as the interim principal of Aspen Community Magnet School since January 1, 2016.

Mr. Gary DeSanctis was born and raised in Seattle, Washington.  He earned a degree in Sociology and worked as a child counselor for abused and neglected children in urban areas such as Los Angeles, California.  He returned to school to earn a K-8 teaching degree and taught 6th grade English and social studies for eight years within North Kitsap School District outside of Seattle, Washington.  He earned a K-12 principal certification from City University of Seattle and is going on his 5th year serving students, families, and communities as a school administrator.  He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in organizational leadership.  

Dr. Veronica C. Garcia, superintendent of schools, stated, “We are very pleased with Mr. DeSanctis’ leadership. The response from the staff and community since he was appointed interim principal in January has been overwhelmingly positive. I am confident he will continue to do a great job!”
