Through the Energy and Water Conservation Program, SFPS has been engaged in sustainability practices since 2010. Over time, this important sustainability work has dramatically improved energy and water use efficiency at many district facilities, and the Program is now poised to make meaningful impacts across the district in the areas of operations, curriculum and career readiness, teacher professional development, and community partnerships.

Our focus on energy and water efficiency and conservation over the last six years has allowed us to consistently decrease our utility budget expenditures, direct more funding to programs, staff, and students, and reduce our environmental footprint. Our work has really just begun…

Reduced water consumption by 38%;
Reduced natural gas consumption by 31%;
Reduced electricity consumption by 9%;
